In part 1 of “3 Steps To Increase Your Word-of-Mouth Marketing,” we discussed the importance of establishing your target audience and how to incorporate social media into your marketing strategy. In part 2 we focused on identifying your business’ unique story and how to share it.
In our final post we will end with the topic of trust. You know the old saying: Honesty is the best policy. We’ll share why this message is particularly important for successful word-of-mouth marketing.
#3 Speak the Truth
One of the most important rules to remember about word-of-mouth marketing is to be honest and transparent with your customers. Remember, the main objective is for your target audience to share their positive experiences with their friends, family, and colleagues. But, to earn the trust of your customers and advocates you must make sure that the stories you share are accurate and truthful.
Sharing stories that include misleading or inaccurate information is a quick road to failure in the digital marketing world. Today’s customers are much more informed than in the past. If they detect or realize they’ve received dishonest or untruthful content then they can quickly become your worst nightmare by posting negative comments.
It’s the Golden Rule of word-of-mouth marketing: Speak unto your customers as you want them to speak about you. Once you have earned their trust and respect, they’ll become your best word-of-mouth marketers.
Our ultimate goal at A+H is to help you discover and share your business’ unique stories with customers and then empower them to become your best marketers through word-of-mouth marketing. These three steps can serve as the foundation to increase brand awareness and empower your customers.
“If you do build a great experience, customers tell each other about that. Word of mouth is very powerful.” – Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com
