Flying trapezes, contortionists and jugglers.
Sometimes life’s greatest challenges are the circus of chaos we have in our own lives. Similar to Cirque du Soleil’s unique storytelling performance filled with extravagant stunts and colorful characters, so is the content we consider for our personal storytelling. Organizing and managing your content ideas can be like juggling swords. One slip of the hand could cost you a finger if you’re not careful. Manage your time and sanity with these quick tips:
Tip 1: Plan, plan and plan some more
Planning can help get you on track to what tasks need to be done first and what can be pushed back for a different day. Read, research, create lists and block out time to complete the tasks on your list. In an era where technology is everywhere, use it to your advantage by setting up a schedule on your device or use other free apps to help manage time.
Tip 2: Dedicate
It’s never good to start your week when you have countless projects that are creeping towards their deadline. What makes it even more unpleasant is that they linger in the back of your mind, taunting you. Create a To-Do list for new tasks and projects currently in production. Sometimes half the battle is just writing something down.
Tip 3: Focus
Procrastination is the thief of time. So if it’s not work related, it’s probably not productive. If you’re easily distracted, try finding a quite place or even posting a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door until your tasks are complete.
Tip 4: Patience
Discover fresh ideas by having a quick chat with a colleague. Take a break to step outside for a breath of fresh air or exercise to help clear out distracting thoughts that may be bogging you down. Originality is key, but oftentimes a good idea is buried in bad ones. Stop, find a new perspective and remember to take it day by day.
“Keep the circus going inside your head, keep it going, don’t take anything too seriously. It’ll all work out in the end.” ~ David Niven
